Progress by the Numbers

Post by Sallijane »

I checked out the new “Progress by the Numbers” data page on the NJ Transit Web site (https://www.njtransit.com/var/var_serv ... yNumbersTo)—some details on rail and bus, less on light rail and Accesslink.

Even those details could be better—what is “unpreventable” as a cause for delay/cancellation? I would hope that none of the delays or cancellations were preventable, at least at the time it happened/didn’t happen, but 14.9% of these have no further description.

I just found the data broken down by rail line—though not all lines have a page at the moment, IDK if they are adding gradually or are not bothering to do all lines—and Main-Bergen has 42.1% considered “unpreventable”—how is a rider supposed to react to that?!

Where are the data for my line, Pascack Valley, the Lackawanna Coalition’s own line, Morris and Essex, and the new recipient of restored one-seat midday trains, Raritan Valley. (The Download Data page does have those icons, so maybe the data will be coming—I will keep an eye out.)

Here is the download page: https://www.njtransit.com/var/var_servl ... loadDataTo
