Vito did a really thorough job on the minutes. That deserves a "Good for You"!

There were a number of names spelled incorrectly, so I made those spelling corrections. Other corrections can be discussed at the meeting.

in the future, I will be careful to spell out any name when the spelling is not obvious.

Review of By-laws
Purview of organization: Change from Morris and Essex Lines and Montclair Branch to Morris and Essex and Montclair-Boonton Lines and connecting transit.
Lackawanna Coalition is a 501(c)(4) organization.
Executive Committee: Nominations in December, Elections in January. What will be duties of the Vice-Chair? Formalize requirement that Executive Committee communicate.

7:30 Al-Include in By-laws that purvey is all trains that service Hoboken terminal and all connecting services.

8:06 Dennis J. Martin is new Executive Director of New Jersey Transit. He was General Manager of of Bus Operations at PABT. No Executive Director has been from Operations since George Warrington. He is not receiving an executive director’s salary.
David will be publishing an article at National Corridors website.
Gateway Development Corporation will include FRA, Amtrak, PANYNJ.
There exists a two year window between Tunnel Failure and Gateway Construction.
Drew Galloway and Joe Boardman believe that a tunnel must be shut down for at least six months straight.

8:13 Al-NJT does not have Plan B is 1 or 2 tunnels must be shut down.
8:20 Rachel-Cory Booker has taken a tunnel trip, and has thousands of followers on-line. Can we utilize this?

8:21 Al-Amtrak got a five year authorization of 1.39 billion dollars; it may be 2 billion dollars by 2019.

8:22 David-For the first time since April 2003, NJT board member dissented: Richard Hammer, NJ Commissioner of Transportation

8:30 David -Regarding late night inbound service between Dover and Summit, ask Bob Lavell, director of Train Operations, for discharge-only between Summit and Newark.
Substitute bus service on Gladstone Branch to resume in spring.

8:32 Ben-Request to increase service on NJT Route 986.

8:33 Create shuttle bus for riders west of Summit and South of Long Branch.

NJARP has concerns about Gladstone Branch. Will NJT and Amtrak coordinating with each other concerning Gateway?

Rail Users’ Network meeting will be February 6 at old MTA building 370 Madison Ave.
RUN conference will be in Boston April 29.
Michael Dukakis will be present.

NARP Amtrak will not continue diner car service on Silver Star.

9:05 John-Arrow III EMU-s need to be refurbished.

9:06 Amtrak can now put extra money into NEC to help alleviate 52 billion dollar maintenance backlog.
