Update: Gladstone Branch rail service is suspended in both directions due to overhead wire issues resulting from a downed tree near Chatham. Substitute bus service is being provided between Summit and Gladstone.

It makes sense that the M&E line would be delayed by a downed tree near Chatham.

What I find confusing is that the problem with that tree could cause delays on Gladstone, which is a different line.

Backed-up M&E trains could be preventing Gladstone trains from reaching Summit...

NJT had to turn power off to remove the tree. This may have affected the Gladstone Branch; I don't know how the circuits are divided.
