NJ Transit plans to extend the capability of its My Tix smartphone application, which has grown rapidly in use on rail lines, to single-ride bus tickets, starting March 16 on selected bus lines. In a phased rollout, one-way tickets on light rail lines would soon follow.  Until now, only monthly passes for bus and light rail lines can be purchased with the application.  The smartphone apps have sold 12 million tickets since debuting in 2013. NJT also said it was exploring other payment options, such as Apple Pay, and said it has installed new cellphone charging stations in New York's Penn Station and in NJT's Hoboken terminal.
